You can swim in the lake, but remember to put on your speedos! Sunny days and warm summer nights are of course the most popular.
It is busy with cruising men all year long. Make sure the police can’t see you naked from the bike path. On a warm sunny day, it can be packed with (mostly naked) men. The park is called “De Oeverlanden” and the lake is “De Nieuwe Meer”. Outside this area, it is strictly forbidden and you risk a fine of at least EUR 85,00. Official signs around this area indicate clearly where you can cruise. In quite a large area of this park it is allowed to cruise. Oeverland (or De Nieuwe Meer) is the most popular gay cruising area in Amsterdam.
